Global citizenship education in conflict-affected settings: Implications of teachers’ views and contextual challenges for the Lebanese case

Despite embracing GCED themes, the Lebanese National Curriculum faces multifaceted challenges rooted in conflict. The 1997 curriculum is still in effect with revision attempts encumbered. Interviews with 56 public school teachers in Lebanon confirm prevalent knowledge transmission practices of prescribed civics content and lack of support for progressive teaching and critical dialogue. Findings suggest few teachers prioritise GCED constructs, while most promote nationalistic citizenship notions contributing to marginalisation. Moving forward, teacher education should develop teaching practice and mindsets for sustainable GCED with the intent of emancipating teachers and students from the limitations of national curricula.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Olfaction has been described as one of the least studied of the senses. This has certainly proven true in Communication. This project applies Ethnography of Communication and Cultural Discourse Analysis to examine the role that olfaction plays in the cultural meaning systems of two speech communities: residents surrounding the Gowanus Canal and bereaved parents. The cultural hub used to explore the cultural significance of olfaction in both speech communities is feeling. The analyses illustrate how emotions are tied to associated sensations and further become activated through radiants of dwelling, relating and acting. The analysis also shows how olfaction may serve to unify and separate members of a community. The significance of this research encourages stretching the boundaries of communication studies by examining the less studied physical senses and the boundaries of Cultural Discourse Analysis by providing distinctions that others can incorporate when examining feelings.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The Strathfieldsaye Estate collection at the University of Melbourne Archives is discussed in relation to recognising, protecting and reclaiming Koori (First Peoples of southeast Australia) heritage. The settler collection includes early 1900s photographs of Koori people within two distinct albums – a family album that includes a series of studio portraits of Koori adults and children, and an album depicting Koori families on Ramahyuck Aboriginal Mission Station. In the past, these albums have been defined by, and limited to, traditional archiving practices excluding Koori interpretation, authorship and social context. Restoring Koori ownership and authorship of intangible heritage plays a large part in consolidating ancestor photographs with Koori perspectives of identity and culture.  相似文献   

In defence of white privilege: physical education teachers’ understandings of their work in culturally diverse schools

Research suggests that physical education (PE) in Western countries is not providing equitable experiences for non-white students. Responsibility for shortcomings has often been ascribed to white PE teachers. Scholars have claimed that teachers lack cultural competence and know little about how physical cultures or health are understood by the young people with whom they work. The objective of this investigation was to investigate this claim and generate an understanding of how white PE teachers in a culturally diverse high school make sense of their work with non-white students. Data with three Swedish teachers of varying experience were produced using semi-structured interviewing. A series of school visits provided a complementary line of data. Four themes emerged from the data. These related to: (1) differences between white and non-white values; (2) the knowledge and dispositions necessary for success in PE; (3) the broad purpose of PE, and; (4) the differences between boys’ and girls’ experiences of PE. Data were interpreted using a Critical Race Theory (CRT) perspective, with the notion of ‘whiteness’ providing a specific analytic concept. The general thesis developed in the second part of the paper is that problems result not from insensitivity or incompetence but from discourses of whiteness in which many teachers live and work. By building on critical research both in general education and physical education literature and by utilizing whiteness as an analytical concept, the investigation shows how three PE teachers draw extensively on the racial discourse of whiteness and how this disadvantages non-white students. The paper is concluded with a consideration of how racial disadvantage could be challenged or disrupted.  相似文献

发展校园足球是推进我国校园体育活动的重要力量，亦是提升我国足球运动水平的必然选择。虽然在相关政策的支持下，我国校园足球发展迅速，但依然面临经费短缺、师资不足、发展不均衡、学训矛盾突出、体制机制不完善、社会认可度不高、医疗保障体系不健全等问题。指出，学校应密切联系俱乐部、企业，多渠道获取发展资源；从内部培养与外部引进两方面充实师资力量；坚持全面发展原则，妥善解决学训矛盾，提升学生综合素质；加强足球文化建设，营造良好氛围，提升足球参与者的荣誉感；强化校园足球风险防范意识，加强风险管理。旨在促进我国校园足球健康可持续发展。  相似文献   

传统武术的信仰危机与文化重生

传统武术信仰就是中国人对传统武术技艺、文化的实践以及精神追求。运用文献资料法、逻辑分析法、历史学研究方法等对我国传统武术的信仰内容、消解过程、危机原因等进行了深入的剖析和反思。研究认为：中华武术是构成中国人身体领域中的信仰，这一信仰在近一个世纪里渐渐出现了危机，信仰的危机才是中华武术发展没落的根源。结论认为：要拯救传统武术，必先拯救传统武术的信仰，即恢复民众对传统武术的珍爱。无疑，对中华武术的文化自尊、自信是恢复信仰的思想认知前提；重新找回没落的传统武术技击之道是恢复信仰的核心任务；潜心务实、拒绝虚假繁荣，回归传统武术本然才是传统武术人文精神重生的路向。  相似文献   

Investigating Identity: Gender,Overseas Experience,and Japanese Youth

Identity is prominent in academia, despite it being difficult to define and measure due to its dynamic and multifaceted nature. In Japan, awareness of the make-up of Japanese youth is increasingly crucial as Japan becomes a more internationalized and ageing society. This paper examines, by identity mapping and discriminant analysis, the cultural identities of 94 Japanese youth. While strong Global identities separated the respondents with from without overseas experience, ties to National identities and Relationships were found respectively for males and females. This paper suggests that regarding the study of cultural identities, gender does matter – at least in Japan.  相似文献   

一种基于图割的机载LiDAR单木识别方法

针对现有机载激光雷达（light detection and ranging，lidar）数据单木分割算法在密集林区中探测精度较低的问题，结合林木冠层空间结构分层的特点，提出一种从机载点云数据直接分离单木的方法。首先，对原始点云数据进行去噪、滤波、高程归一化；然后基于冠层高度模型（canopy height model，chm）计算局部最大值以确定冠层表面的明显树顶，以此作为单木位置的先验知识，继而采用归一化割（normalized cut，Ncut）方法实现冠层的初始分割；最后，以全局最大值代替局部最大值，并将冠层形状、冠层最小点数作为约束条件，再次利用Ncut方法完成对漏检单木的探测，进而实现单木的精确探测。实验结果表明，针对密集林区的单木分割，本方法有效地减少了漏识单木，整体精度达90%以上，将有助于单木三维结构定量描述及参数反演。  相似文献

Jiangsu has improved the sports organization mechanism，ensured the sports public services，inherited folk sports culture，riched sports event culture and promoted high-quality sports culture.In an effort to build a province of renowned sports culture，we have seized the opportunities，taken sports culture as a starting point，and developed a strong sports culture in Jiangsu on all fronts，the experience of which is of reference value to the development of advanced sports power in other provinces and our nation.This paper adopts the methods of document review，logical analysis and investigation，re-generalizes the connotation and standard of a province of strong sports culture on the basis of the existing research results，and discusses the construction and development practice of Jiangsu’s development of sports culture and its further construction path.  相似文献
